UPCOMING CONFERENCES

  • 💡 Together with Wieke Pot, Wouter Lammers, and Jorren Scherpenisse, RADIUNCE’s PI Barbara Vis will chair the panel ‘Robust & time sensitive governance: Dealing with uncertainty’ at the NIG Conference on 6-7 February 2025 in Ghent. This panel focuses on the timely question what enables governments to deal with uncertainty in the face of turbulence and when and why they do not deal with uncertainty at all. The RADIUNCE team will present three co-authored papers at this conference.

  • Naara Ulmke has present a paper, co-authored with Sjors Overman and Barbara Vis, at the 5th interdisciplinary 24 Hours of Political Psychology Conference in Vienna, 19-20 September, 2024.

  • Olaf van der Veen and Ella MacLaughlin have presented co-authored work-in-progress at the Dutch/Flemish Politicologenetmaal 2024 in Maastricht from June 13-14; at the EPSA 2024 Conference in Cologne from 4-6 July.

  • Barbara Vis has given a presentation on the work done in RADIUNCE at the workshop entitled ‘Theoretical and methodological approaches to using uncertainty information in policy’ at KU Leuven, 21-22 May 2024.

  • On September 29, 2023, Barbara Vis visited Aarhus University, where she among other things presented the RADIUNCE project.
  • On June 1-2, 2023 Barbara Vis presented a paper entitled ‘Introducing a Conceptual Map of Politicians’ Responses to Different Types of Uncertain Phenomena’ in the Political Psychology Workshop at the Dutch/Flemish Politicologenetmaal 2023, Leuven, Belgium. Also Lisanne de Blok and Sjors Overman attended the Politicologenetmaal.
  • On May 16, 2023, RADIUNCE’s affliated researcher Achim Goerres (University of Duisburg-Essen) visited Utrecht University School of Governance and gave among other things a talk entitled ‘Living in Novaland: Is it possible to simulate the experience of states, economies, and public policies in a virtual online state?’

  • On March 17, 2023, Barbara Vis gave a talk entitled ‘How Do Politicians Respond to Different Types of Uncertain Phenomena? Introducing a Conceptual Map’ at the Hot Politics Lab. A recording of the talk is available here.
  • On February 14, 2023, Barbara Vis presented the RADIUNCE project to the Public Governance research group at Utrecht University School of Governance.
  • On February 8, 2023, Barbara Vis visited the Media, Movements and Politics (M²P) group at Antwerp University, where she among other things will talk about the RADIUNCE project.
